Hotel
Hotel
The hotels we recommend are always checked before. We are keen for the whole team to stick together, sharing experiences, ideas, participating in training and having fun. If it is about Portimão, we recommend your attention to the Hotel da Rocha located about 20 minutes by car from the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve circuit. It is located directly on Praia da Rocha beach by the ocean. From the hotel, it is an easy walk to the marina in the town of Portimão and to the bars and restaurants along the lively Rocha beach. The hotel has private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a gym.

Portimao track, also known as Algarve International Circuit, is 4.7 km long and consists of 16 turns.
In this detailed Portimao guide, below we describe everything you need to be fast on this Portuguese track, including analysis of racing lines and braking zones.
The Portimao circuit is a great entertainment with a technical mix of fast and slow corners, some of them, due to the huge changes in elevation, compare driving on this circuit to a roller-coaster :-).
The Algarve circuit is certainly one of the most interesting in Europe.
The braking zone for turn 1 in Portimao is going downhill fast. At the end of the straight line you have 280 km / h so it almost feels like you're falling down. Ok, you need to brake but without exaggeration turns 1 and 2 are fast. You can gain a lot of time here. Only turn 3 requires a strong braking and entering from the outer line. You allow yourself to be widely projected onto the outside line and, when going to turn 4, aim at about 1/3 from the right curbs. Turn 4 is blind, i.e. there is a break and the right entry will save you a lot of time because just behind it is quite a long straight with the VIP stand tower on the left.
Braking to turn 5 is a challenge, but ... don't be afraid if you miss it, there is an asphalt runway straight ahead, so you can save yourself easily. Don't try to win turn 5 with delayed braking. Here you have to go in with some handling and good grip because it is tight and in a depression where you make your way out to a very fast left 6 (blind again). Turn 6 is again flat and blind before the fast right turn 7. Here many of you are braking unnecessarily hard. Try to brake less during the next passes.
Braking in turn 8 in Portimao is difficult because you have to enter at high speed and braking is as if you are going to go outside the track straight into the rails ...
After turn 8 you have a steep climb, I suggest closing the throttle at its top, because an inexperienced driver may not master the difficult art of flying right after the top.
After a steep uphill slope, the Algarve track once again plunges into high-speed turn 9 where good vision is crucial. Here the lever is a resistance.
We are racing again up a very steep hill to the extremely technical part of turns 10 and 11. It's important to watch the guided video to really understand this section of the track. Suggestion - we hit the top in about 1/3 to half the width of the track thread and prepare for hard braking (straight ahead as if we were to go outside. 12 and then it rides again to the left blind corner 13. Then we move the motorcycle back to the left side of the track before dealing with the technically difficult right corner 14. This is a very important moment because passing this corner determines the efficiency and speed of completing the rest of the track This is where you can save the most time by building the right entry speed for the next turns.
We come out here at full throttle, shift to a higher gear, and attack the next turn from the left corners.
Here, attention turn 15 is basically two turns where the top of the first will be a breakthrough on the hill and then you have a breakthrough down the elevation to the exit to the start-finish straight. Entering turn 15 should be moderated throttle as you are in the fold, you are crossing the top of the hill and cannot see the rest of the track. At the same time, the speed of this element largely determines the speed of the start-finish straight line, and therefore your lap time. Someone might consider going straight, but nothing could be further from the truth ... be careful because even in the fifth gear you can include powerful wheelies :-)
Personally, I think the sequence turn 14 - 2 is a bikers unicorn. I love this passage.
